Osmania University to Host National Seminar on Genetics and Biotechnology

Hyderabad: The Department of Genetics and Biotechnology at Osmania University, Hyderabad, is organizing a one-day national seminar on Monday. The seminar is titled “Changing Horizons in Genetics and Biotechnology” (CHGB).

The event is sponsored by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) and will focus on the latest developments in genetics and biotechnology. It aims to shed light on recent trends and innovations in the field.

Officials have stated that the seminar will highlight groundbreaking technologies such as CRISPR, precision medicine, and AI-driven genomics. The discussions will emphasize the importance of responsibly using, regulating, and balancing these advancements to benefit both humanity and the environment.

Renowned scientists have been invited as the keynote speakers for the seminar. Professor Shyam S. Mahopatra, director of the USF Centre for Research and Education in Nano-Bioengineering, and Professor Shubra Mohapatra from the Department of Molecular Medicine, Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida, USA, will share their expertise with the attendees.

In addition to expert talks, the seminar will feature several competitions. Undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members will have the opportunity to participate in oral and poster presentations to showcase their innovative ideas and research projects.
