Hyderabad: The Human Capital Development Centre (HCDC) at Osmania University hosted a free, one-day training session on “Career Opportunities & Emerging Trends in Forensic Science.” Students from various colleges, both undergraduates and postgraduates, attended the event held in the e-Classroom at the CFRD Building.
Prof. G. Vijaya Charan, the Director of HCDC, and Dr. T. Sowmya, Assistant Professor of Forensic Science at OU, opened the program. Ranjeet Singh, CEO and Director of the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Sciences, delivered the keynote speech. He shared engaging insights on the latest technologies and real-world case studies.
The session explored traditional careers like forensic scientists and crime scene investigators while introducing specialized fields such as digital forensics and forensic psychology. The event also highlighted innovative investigative technologies. Attendees learned about skill development and international study opportunities offered by HCDC.
Prof. Vijaya Charan welcomed participants and emphasized HCDC’s aim to provide students with practical skills and global knowledge. She urged them to consider unique career options that blend science, law, and technology.
Dr. Sowmya stressed the growing role of forensic science in legal systems and the career prospects for those interested in investigation and research grounded in ethics.
