Hyderabad: The Parliamentary Standing Committee visited the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) on Wednesday for a study tour.

The purpose of the visit was to review India’s progress in defence technology and examine future plans for missile development. During the visit, Radha Mohan Singh, the Chairman of the committee, inaugurated the new Missile Exhibition Centre. This centre highlights India’s key achievements in missile technology and its efforts to become self-reliant in defence.

The exhibition displays various missile systems developed by DRDL and its partner labs. These include short-range, medium-range, and long-range missile systems, along with advancements in precision-guided technology. The visit highlighted the important role of research and development in keeping India prepared for any security challenges in a complex global environment.

During the trip, the committee also discussed ongoing and future defence projects. A senior officer mentioned that the committee stressed the need for continuous investment in defence R&D to ensure India maintains its technological advantage. The Chairman reaffirmed the government’s strong support for DRDL and other research labs, emphasizing their vital role in securing the nation’s defence in the future.
