PM Modi Emphasizes on the Significance of Indo-Pacific Security and Success for the Global Community at Quad Summit

The leaders of the Quad countries- US, Japan, Australia and India- met on May 20 in Hiroshima. The meeting was attended by US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his opening remarks, Modi stressed that the Indo-Pacific region is an engine of global trade, innovation and development and the success and security of the region are important for the whole world. He added that Quad has emerged as a key platform to ensure peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.

Modi also said that Quad will continue to work towards human welfare, peace and prosperity. The Quad summit was originally scheduled to take place in Sydney on May 24 but was moved to Hiroshima after President Biden postponed his trip to Australia.
