Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the Lokmanya Tilak National Award in Pune on Tuesday. The award was given to him on the 103rd death anniversary of freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak. During the event, PM Modi shared the stage with NCP chief Sharad Pawar and had a conversation with him. Pawar attended the event despite opposition from some members of the INDIA alliance, who were concerned about the optics of sharing the stage with Modi. The Lokmanya Tilak Award is given every year on August 1 to honor the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak. During his visit, Modi faced a joint protest from social organizations and members of various political parties, led by social activist Baba Adhav. The protest took place near the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh temple where Modi performed pooja after reaching Pune.
