The Cyberabad Traffic Police launched a major campaign against drunk driving. Over the weekend, they caught 528 people driving under the influence. These checks took place at various locations under the Cyberabad police jurisdiction.
The campaign aimed to reduce drunk driving incidents. Police teams conducted checks specifically during weekends. Of those caught, 391 were riding two-wheelers, 22 were on three-wheelers, 113 drove four-wheelers, and 2 were operating heavy vehicles. Notably, 44 offenders had blood alcohol levels between 200 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml.
The RC Puram zone reported the most cases with 94, followed by Miyapur with 65, Gachibowli with 48, and Narsingi with 46. The largest group of offenders were aged 21-30, totaling 218. This was followed by 175 individuals aged 31-40, and 98 aged 41-50. All those caught will appear in court.
Police warned that driving under the influence, especially if it causes fatal accidents, will lead to arrests. Offenders will face charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which could result in up to 10 years in prison and a fine.
