Hyderabad: Police Bust Ganja Smuggling Gang
The Malakpet police arrested a five-member gang on Tuesday for smuggling ganja to Dhoolpet. During the operation, the police seized 30 kilograms of ganja, along with a car and a bike used for transportation.
The suspects have been identified as Ikkiri Bhaskar (27), Ala Bharath Kumar (32), Vallamdasu Vamshi (25), Jitta Kiran (22), and Boini Vamshi (28). All of them are residents of Yadadri district. They were caught transporting the illegal substance in a car after purchasing it from Atmakur village in Kurnool district.
Acting on a tip-off, the Malakpet police intercepted the gang’s vehicle at Malakpet crossroads. Upon inspection, they discovered packets of ganja hidden inside the car.
A case has been registered against the suspects under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is underway.
