In Hyderabad, the Traffic police of North district are cracking down on illegal modification of motorcycle silencers to reduce pollution and improve road safety. They have booked over 1,910 cases and confiscated about 1,000 modified silencers.

Modifying silencers on motorbikes not only breaks traffic rules but also harms the environment. It leads to louder noise and more air pollution, which can be dangerous for people’s health and the community as a whole.

Installing modified silencers is against traffic laws and can result in penalties and legal consequences. According to an amendment in the Motor Vehicles Act, using pressure horns or modified silencers that produce over 80 decibels of noise can lead to fines up to Rs. 10,000 and imprisonment up to six months.
