The Mulugu district police successfully disposed of four landmines planted by Maoists in the Venkatapuram forest area on the Telangana-Chattisgarh border. These landmines were found during a search for underground devices set up by the banned organization.
These landmines were discovered in the Venkatapuram police limits near Veerabhadra forest, a popular area for walkers. Three of the landmines had already exploded, killing a pig and a domestic dog. The remaining unexploded landmine was safely defused by the police. The bomb squad will continue searching for any other potential threats to ensure public safety.
The district SP has urged the Maoists to remove any landmines planted in Adivasi areas, as they pose a danger to both people and wildlife. He also advised the public not to support the Maoists and to report any information they may have about the rebels to the police.
