Police Raid Belt Shops in Old City, Two Arrested

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone team, along with Chatrinaka police, arrested two individuals for illegally selling liquor at their homes without a valid license. The police seized 82.46 liters of liquor, which was stored in 405 bottles, with an estimated worth of Rs 71,000.

The accused were identified as Prabhakar Reddy, aged 58, from Chatrinaka, and J Chandra Mohan, aged 50, from Uppuguda. Both had been involved in similar illegal activities in the past.

According to the police, the two men were running unauthorized liquor shops, known as “belt shops,” from their homes. They bought small amounts of liquor from various wine shops and stored it at their residences. They then sold the liquor during early and late hours at higher prices.

The arrested individuals, along with the seized liquor, were handed over to the Chatrinaka police. Two cases were registered against them under Section 34(A) of the Telangana State Excise Act, and an investigation is underway.
