In Hyderabad, the EAGLE unit of the Cyberabad Narcotics Police has broken up a drug trafficking ring involving international suppliers, local pub-goers, and courier deliveries. They arrested the owner of Malnadu Kitchen in Kompally.

Surya Annamaneni, a 34-year-old hotel owner from Kompally, was a key figure in this network. His arrest revealed the use of complex international and digital transactions for drug trade.

Police stopped Surya near his restaurant, Malnadu Kitchen, while he was in his car. They found 10 grams of Cocaine, 3.2 grams of OG Kush (Ganja), and 1.6 grams of Ecstasy pills.

The Cocaine was cleverly hidden in a shoe heel, packed in a pink box, and sent via Shree Maruthi Courier from New Delhi under a fake name, ‘Fatima’. This shows the advanced methods used to evade law enforcement.

Surya admitted to buying Cocaine over 20 times between 2021 and 2025, often using it at upscale Hyderabad pubs like Prism Pub, Farm Pub, Block 22, Bird Box, Xora, Broadway, and Quake Arena. These pubs are now under investigation for allowing drug use. Many consumers, including professionals and tech workers, were identified, and police have filed cases against them.

Surya’s interrogation revealed the vastness of his operations. He previously worked as a sales manager in Bengaluru before opening his restaurant in Hyderabad in 2020. He reconnected with old contacts involved in drugs. His suppliers included Indian sources and Nigerian traffickers in Delhi, Bangalore, and Goa.

Surya regularly ordered Cocaine and MDMA from a Nigerian supplier named Nick, using digital payments. He recently transferred Rs 1.39 lakh via Ternion Hospitality and Rs 41,000 through an ATM to these accounts.

The drugs were sent through couriers, hidden in ordinary items, and stored in Surya’s car or restaurant for distribution.

A case has been filed under several sections of the NDPS Act. Surya is now in judicial custody. The investigation continues to uncover financial links, courier networks, digital trails, and the role of pubs and businesses.
