The Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) has granted approval for the ambitious six-laning project of the 285.995 km Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Machilipatnam Corridor along National Highway 65. The project, valued at ₹12,073.99 crore, will be executed across three packages spanning both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This critical infrastructure development aims to enhance connectivity between the two states and facilitate smoother movement of goods and passengers along this vital economic corridor.

The project will be implemented through two distinct execution models tailored to different sections of the highway. The 226.3 km stretch between Hyderabad and Vijayawada will be developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Toll model, while the remaining 59.7 km section from Vijayawada to Machilipatnam will be executed through the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). This dual approach is designed to optimize project financing and ensure efficient execution across the entire corridor.

Significant progress has already been made on land acquisition for the project, with approximately 87 percent of the required land totaling 1,518.98 hectares already secured by the authorities. The remaining 219.833 hectares of land is currently under the acquisition process. This substantial completion of land acquisition is expected to expedite the commencement of construction activities and minimize potential delays that typically affect large infrastructure projects.

The construction timelines have been clearly defined for both sections of the corridor. The Hyderabad-Vijayawada section is scheduled for completion within 2.5 years from the start of construction, while the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam stretch is expected to be completed in 2 years. The six-laning of this corridor is anticipated to significantly reduce travel time, improve road safety, and boost economic activity in the region by providing seamless connectivity between the capital cities and the coastal areas of both states.
