Hyderabad: More than 70% of the applications received at the Prajavani programme at Praja Bhavan have been resolved so far. Prajavani has completed 50 weeks, and officials reported that 4,31,348 out of 5,23,940 applications were addressed. The remaining 92,592 applications are still pending at various stages.

Most of the pending applications are related to requests for white ration cards, Indiramma houses, and job applications. These are delayed due to some official processes. Citizens who have not yet applied for the benefits of the Six Guarantees recently announced by the government also submitted their applications at Prajavani.

All departments are busy working on these applications in a timely manner. Some applications are pending due to policy decisions and court cases. The Prajavani programme is conducted every Tuesday and Friday at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Bhavan. Authorities have made special arrangements to help visitors who cannot write their applications. The staff assists by asking about the citizens’ problems and helping them write the applications. There is also a special desk to help applicants reach the relevant departments.

Nodal Officer Divya mentioned that a hassle-free system has been created to prevent applicants from repeatedly visiting Praja Bhavan. An online system checks if the same petitioner has visited multiple times for the same problem. This system helps applicants know the status of their applications by entering their mobile number, and officials update the status for the citizens.

Every application submitted at Prajavani is scanned first, and a reference ID number is created. This ID number is sent to the concerned department and also to the applicant’s phone via SMS, explained the nodal officer.

Previously, common people found it difficult to submit petitions to the government. Citizens were not allowed to enter the Secretariat or the head offices of most departments. While some district collectors conducted Grievance Day on Mondays, the government did not focus on addressing people’s grievances. Many areas handled Grievance Day lightly, forcing thousands of victims to visit the Grievance Cell repeatedly. There was no mechanism for applicants to approach the State government for long-pending grievances due to restrictions on entering State offices.

The State government introduced the Prajavani programme two days after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy assumed power.
