Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was giving a speech in Wakayama when an explosion occurred. He was evacuated, but is safe. Someone was arrested in connection with the blast. A video of the incident shows people running away and a small cloud of smoke. The Prime Minister was campaigning for a candidate for a by-election. He wasn’t hurt. The incident may bring up memories of the assassination of Japan’s former prime minister Shinzo Abe, who was killed at a political campaign event in 2020.
