In response to the NEET UG exam paper leak, the central government is taking all necessary precautions to conduct the re-exam smoothly on June 21. To ensure exam security, the use of the popular messaging app Telegram has been restricted until June 22. This decision, made under Section 69A of the IT Act, follows a recommendation from the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Additionally, the Ministry of Electronics and IT has ordered a temporary suspension of the message editing feature on Telegram until June 30. This measure aims to prevent fake ‘paper leak’ evidence being created with old timestamps by fraudulent groups. Authorities have already taken action against fake Telegram channels targeting students. In Ahmedabad, the Cyber Crime Branch arrested an interstate gang operating eight Telegram channels involved in scams worth ₹1.5 crore. NTA has already secured the individuals responsible for creating the NEET papers in a confidential location. Due to the paper leak, the government is using the Indian Air Force to transport the question papers. Mi-17 helicopters will carry the NEET re-test papers to 18 IAF centers nationwide, from where the Air Force will distribute them to various exam centers.

Ahead of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-exam on June 21, the NTA addressed the rumors of a paper leak circulating on social media. It clarified that these are false claims and advised students to refer only to the official NTA website (www.neet.nta.nic.in) for accurate information. The central government urged reporting any fraudulent activities immediately to the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930.
