In a recent public discussion about whether the Endowment Department should control Hindu temples, Chakravarthy, the district president of the Dhupa Deepa Naivedya Archaka Sangham, shared his thoughts.
Chakravarthy expressed concerns that the department’s involvement in managing temples has reduced the public’s devotion. He believes that worship has become more mechanical because of this control.
He also mentioned that many temples across the country have developed on their own, without any outside interference. However, temples under the Endowment Department’s control are being treated mainly as sources of revenue.
Chakravarthy emphasized that temples should be seen as places of devotion, not as businesses focused on generating income.
