Rahul Gandhi Engages with Diverse Civil Society Groups

Hyderabad: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, met with various civil society groups in Hyderabad on Tuesday to discuss the caste census. The meeting took place at the Gandhi Ideology Centre in Bowenpally, where around 400 people were invited to participate in State-level consultations on the caste census.

Out of the 400 attendees, Rahul Gandhi spoke directly to a smaller group of six to eight people. These individuals were chosen by the Pradesh Congress Committee and represented different castes and communities.

During the 40-minute session, Rahul Gandhi listened to suggestions on how to effectively carry out the caste census in the State. He stressed the importance of the census, while participants shared ideas on improving the process, such as refining the questions in the census forms.

One of the participants shared with The Hans India that Rahul Gandhi wanted strong involvement from civil society in the project. He emphasized how the census could set an example for the entire nation and become a successful pilot project.
