Hyderabad: A large number of people are eager to buy apartments in the Rajiv Swagruha gated communities in the city. Numerous applications have been submitted for one, two, and three-bedroom flats in Bandlaguda, which are allocated through a fair lottery system.
To help the middle class own homes, the government built affordable 1 and 2 BHK flats priced between Rs 15-18 lakh. This initiative received an overwhelming response. The Rajiv Swagruha Corporation conducted a lottery in the presence of officials from the Corporation, Revenue, and Police departments. The process went on late into the night, with many applicants crowding the Bandlaguda main road.
VP Gautam, the Managing Director of Rajiv Swagruha, mentioned that people could also apply for flats in the Pocharam area if they missed out in Bandlaguda. Notably, there were 1,325 applications for just 11 available 3 BHK flats. For the 2 BHK flats, 525 people applied, but only 19 flats were available. There were 234 applications for 105 single-bedroom flats. Despite the high demand, some flats received only one application, and these were directly allotted.
The Rajiv Swagruha Corporation built a total of 2,746 flats in Bandlaguda. A notification in early July invited applications for 159 vacant flats, with 131 flats allotted on Wednesday. Except for a few reserved for senior citizens and some 1 BHK flats, most were sold. The government aimed to offer these affordable homes to the middle class with certain conditions, like not owning another house in the city. This sale generated approximately Rs 26 crore.
The allocation began by setting aside special flats for senior citizens, followed by the distribution of one, two, and three-bedroom flats. Officials stated that in Ghatkesar Pocharam, 255 1 BHK flats are available for Rs 13 lakh each, and 340 2 BHK flats for Rs 19 lakh. The application deadline is July 31, with the lottery scheduled for August 1 and 2.
