Hyderabad: The Gopalapuram police have approached the Nampally Court to request one week’s custody of suspects in an investigation into a baby-selling scheme.
The police seek custody of Athaluri Namratha, who owns Universal Srushti Fertility Centre, and her son, Pachipala Jayanth Krishna. They aim to question them to find out how many couples were deceived through false surrogacy claims.
The duo, along with other partners, was arrested on July 25 by the North Zone police, with help from Health Department officials. They were caught running an illegal fertility center named ‘Indian Sperm Tech’ near the Secunderabad East Metro Station.
During the operation, authorities discovered 17 sperm donors and 11 egg donors. They also seized various documents, including donor records, payment logs, and surrogacy forms. The center was operating without a proper medical license.
