Hyderabad: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, announced on Tuesday that the state government would renovate the Assembly building. The estimated cost of the renovation is Rs 49 crore, and the project will be carried out with the support of the Aga Khan Trust. The R&B Minister, along with Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu, visited the Legislative Assembly to review the ongoing renovation works.

The government is focusing on upgrading the Speaker’s Chamber and the Council building as part of the renovations. During their visit, the Ministers checked on the progress of the work and gave important instructions to the officials. The R&B Minister requested that the renovations be completed within three months.

One of the main goals of the renovation is to bring the Assembly and Council halls closer together, similar to the central hall of Parliament. Currently, Ministers have to travel by car between the Assembly building and the Council building, which takes up time. By bringing the two buildings together in one place, this issue would be solved, saving time for the Ministers.

The R&B Minister also instructed the special secretary, D Hari Chandana, to issue tenders for electrical and plumbing work required for the renovation. Additionally, the Minister spoke with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to ensure the release of Rs 2 crore in pending dues for the Aga Khan Trust. Lastly, he mentioned the need for more rooms for security staff and better parking facilities.
