Hyderabad, June 25, 2025 – In a significant step toward transforming Telangana’s infrastructure landscape, the State Cabinet has approved the final alignment of the southern segment of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project surrounding Hyderabad. The cabinet selected Option 2 among three proposed routes presented by the Roads & Buildings Department, finalising a 201-km stretch from Choutuppal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri to Sangareddy.

Key Route Points: Manneguda & Rajapur (As per preliminary maps)
While the official Cabinet documents have not released the full list of villages on the route, our independent mapping sources confirm that the selected alignment likely passes through Manneguda and Rajapur, located along the Hyderabad–Bengaluru National Highway (NH-44). These locations place the alignment strategically close to major transport corridors, easing both passenger and freight movement.
A complete village-wise route is expected to be officially released once land acquisition notifications and detailed surveys are completed.
What is the Regional Ring Road (RRR)?
The Regional Ring Road (RRR) is a proposed 340+ km mega expressway around Hyderabad designed to expand connectivity beyond the existing Outer Ring Road (ORR). While the ORR currently supports intra-city and near-periphery movement, the RRR is aimed at driving economic growth and easing long-distance transit by providing a secondary loop road system about 30–40 km beyond the ORR.
The project is divided into two segments:
Northern RRR – already under various stages of planning and execution.
Southern RRR – now finalised, covering Choutuppal → Ibrahimpatnam → Manneguda → Rajapur → Sangareddy
RRR’s Benefits to Telangana
The Regional Ring Road is not just a transport project — it is expected to be a game-changer for urban planning and regional development in Telangana.
Traffic Decongestion: RRR will divert heavy vehicles and through traffic away from Hyderabad’s dense urban areas, helping reduce congestion on the ORR and inner-city roads.
Real Estate & Economic Growth: The corridor is expected to unlock vast areas for residential, industrial, and logistics development, particularly benefiting towns in South and West Hyderabad.
Increased Connectivity: RRR will connect multiple national highways and districts including Sangareddy, Shadnagar, Amangal, Ibrahimpatnam, and Choutuppal, enabling faster and smoother travel across Telangana.
Boost to Rural Telangana: The project will create jobs, spur investments, and improve access to healthcare and education in peripheral regions.
What’s Next?
The cabinet’s nod clears the way for land acquisition, detailed project reports (DPRs), and groundwork by the Roads & Buildings Department in coordination with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The southern RRR is expected to see fast-tracked development, with key updates on phase-wise construction likely to be announced in the upcoming legislative sessions.
The RRR is set to become Telangana’s most transformative road project, bringing lasting benefits in mobility, economy, and regional development — and residents near Manneguda, Rajapur, and surrounding areas could see major changes on the horizon.
