Report: Sri Lanka Expected to Host Asia Cup 2023 Instead of Pakistan

The Asia Cup 2023 is expected to be hosted by Sri Lanka instead of Pakistan, according to a report by the Indian Express. This shift of venue was expected due to concerns expressed by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah over the idea of India traveling to Pakistan. The BCCI had expressed their reluctance, and Najam Sethi, the former Pakistan Cricket Board chief, had warned that if India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the chances of Pakistan playing in the ODI World Cup in India would be very low. There are reports that Pakistan will travel to India for the ODI World Cup only if BCCI assures that the side will travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
