Rescue teams are working hard along the SLBC tunnel route, where the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has made good progress. They traveled 11 km inside the tunnel using a small train but had to stop because of three feet of water. From there, the NDRF personnel continued on foot until they reached the 14 km mark, where the tunnel boring machine (TBM) is located.

Reports say that the back part of the TBM was damaged in a recent accident. Both sides of the machine are now blocked with mud and debris. Officials also revealed that the machine has moved 80 meters backward due to the incident.

Despite these difficulties, the NDRF teams have reached the front of the TBM. However, officials have stated that they cannot rescue the trapped individuals until the water and mud levels go down.
