Hyderabad: Lt General (Retd) Harpal Singh is now an advisor for the state’s Irrigation Department. With over 40 years in the Indian military, he excels in strategic infrastructure for the Indian Defence Forces. His background includes leading major civil infrastructure projects using advanced technology.

As the former Director General of Border Roads Organisation and Engineer in Chief of the Indian Army, Singh played a key role in building strategic tunnels and underground infrastructure for the military. He was crucial in completing the Atal Tunnel under Rohtang Pass, advancing the Theing Tunnel in Sikkim, and developing the Sela and Nechiphu Tunnels in Arunachal Pradesh. He also planned various tunnels across challenging Himalayan terrains. Singh is a trained civil engineer with specialized infrastructure courses from the USA.
