Hyderabad: On Saturday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not stepping down from his position, despite the RSS suggesting leaders should retire at 75. Modi, who turns 75 this September, has held leadership roles since 2001. Revanth believes the BJP will win fewer than 150 Lok Sabha seats in the next elections.
At a conference in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, he discussed challenges to the Constitution. He questioned why Modi remains in power when senior BJP figures like LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi had to step down upon reaching 75. Revanth disagreed with BJP MP Nishikant Dubey‘s claim that without Modi, BJP would secure fewer than 150 seats.
He asserted that under Rahul Gandhi‘s leadership, Congress will prevail in the upcoming elections, reducing BJP’s seat count. Revanth emphasized Rahul Gandhi’s 25-year struggle for the rights of the poor, Dalits, Adivasis, and OBCs. He urged Congress leaders to unite under Rahul to defend the Constitution and defeat Modi.
Revanth praised Telangana‘s unique Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC), which highlighted Congress’s commitment to social justice for OBCs. During Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana, Rahul promised a caste census, which later led to a 42% quota for Backward Classes (BCs) in education, jobs, and politics. Revanth highlighted this as a significant achievement for social justice.
He also criticized BJP leaders for frequently questioning Congress’s contributions to the nation.
