CM Revanth Reddy Criticizes Old Survey, Challenges BRS Claims

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has criticized the Samagra Kutumba Survey (SKS), calling it a flawed exercise. He challenged the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to prove the accuracy of the survey’s claim that there are 82 sub-castes within the Scheduled Castes (SC) category. He even stated that he was willing to resign if the previous government’s claims were proven right.

During a discussion in the Assembly, Revanth Reddy responded to AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. He insisted that only the 2011 Census should be used as a benchmark for population figures. Holding a copy of the SKS report, he accused the previous government of using the survey for political gains rather than public welfare. He pointed out that there are only 59 SC sub-castes, and the claim of 82 sub-castes was due to errors made by unqualified individuals.

Referring to a newspaper article that reportedly supports BRS, the Chief Minister mocked the way caste data was presented. He highlighted that when the percentages of different castes were added, the total exceeded 114%. “Where should I bring this extra 14% from?” he asked sarcastically, ridiculing the inaccuracies in the report.

Revanth Reddy also stressed that even electoral rolls could not be considered reliable. He mentioned that in AIMIM’s own constituency, Nampally, about 59,000 individuals had duplicate voter ID cards. He assured that a committee would be formed to address the issue and remove duplicate voters.

During his speech, Akbaruddin Owaisi demanded that the government release a report on the caste census. He expressed concerns that if the survey was not properly conducted, it might end up being just as faulty as the SKS under the previous BRS government. He also pointed out inconsistencies in the SKS data, which did not match other government records like Aadhaar, ration cards, or voter IDs.
