In Hyderabad, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with Rohith Vemula’s mother, Radhika Vemula, his brother Raja Vemula, and other student leaders and teachers from the ‘Justice for Rohith Vemula’ campaign at his home.
After a lot of public outcry, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had a private meeting with Rohith’s family and students from the University of Hyderabad. The students later told the media that the police report on the case would not be accepted. The Chief Minister assured them of a fair investigation.
Radhika Vemula spoke to the media, saying, “If the police say Rohith wasn’t Dalit, then they should bring my son back. By denying his Dalit identity, they are hurting my son again.” She mentioned that the investigation from 2018 was only recently submitted to court.
She demanded a new investigation into Rohith’s death, stating, “We met with the Chief Minister who promised a fair inquiry. We are pleased with the Congress government’s stance.”
