Former minister and BJP Lok Sabha candidate Etala Rajender believes that those in power should understand the struggles of the poor. Speaking at a Perika community meeting, he emphasized the importance of leaders treating the marginalized like their own children.
Rajender, who does not come from a political background, shared how he was able to become an MLA due to the trust placed in him by the people. He pointed out that politics today is often influenced by caste and money, but cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a role model for entering politics without relying on these factors.
Modi, who quickly rose to become the Chief Minister of Gujarat after his first term as an MLA, is admired by Rajender for his dedication to development over promises. Under Modi’s leadership, the BJP achieved significant victories in both the 2014 and 2019 elections, with a focus on serving the people responsibly and delivering tangible progress.
Rajender praised Modi’s humility and commitment to empowering villages during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting India’s rise to becoming the fifth largest economy in the world. He expressed confidence that with another term, India could even become the third largest economy globally.
