The Musi River front development project has been given priority in the vote on account budget for the 2024-2025 financial year. Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka presented the budget in the Assembly on Saturday. A total of Rs 1,000 crore has been allocated exclusively for the Musi development project.

The government plans to develop pedestrian zones, people’s plazas, and Heritage zones in the Old city as part of the Musi River Front Project. The aim is to transform the River Musi and its catchment area into an environment-friendly zone. The project also includes protecting cultural heritage places.

To fund the project, the government will partially raise funds through the monetization of the River Front. In addition to the Musi River project, the State government is committed to decongesting Hyderabad and promoting the development of all regions in the State.

To achieve this, separate plans will be made by dividing the State into three zones. The urban area will be within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), the semi-urban area will be between the ORR and the proposed regional Ring Road, and the rural zone will be outside the regional ring road. This approach will ensure balanced development across all regions.
