Hyderabad’s Old City is set to witness the inauguration of the Santosh Nagar Steel Bridge, a major infrastructure project built at a cost of Rs 620 crore. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the flyover soon, marking another significant milestone in the city’s development. The 2.58 km-long steel flyover features a four-lane corridor designed to accommodate the growing traffic demands of the region.
The bridge is expected to benefit more than 1.5 lakh vehicles daily, providing much-needed relief to commuters traveling through the Santosh Nagar-Saidabad corridor. This modern infrastructure addition aims to ease traffic congestion and reduce travel time for thousands of residents and commercial vehicles that use this route regularly. The steel flyover represents a vital upgrade to the city’s transportation network.
Traffic studies have revealed a dramatic increase in vehicle movement along the corridor over the years. In 2015, the route recorded 70,576 vehicles per day. By 2026, this number is expected to reach nearly 1.5 lakh vehicles per day. Projections for 2035 indicate further growth, with an estimated 1,93,632 vehicles per day anticipated to use the corridor.
The infrastructure project addresses the rapidly expanding traffic needs of Hyderabad, particularly in the Old City areas that have historically faced connectivity challenges. The four-lane steel bridge is designed to handle heavy traffic volumes while maintaining smooth flow during peak hours.
