Hyderabad – The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) has taken a big step toward improving local infrastructure. A major project worth ₹23.5 crore has been approved to build a modern sports complex at Dhobi Ghat Ground. This was confirmed during the SCB meeting held on Friday.
The upcoming complex will include facilities like cricket practice nets, badminton courts, a swimming pool, and a walking track for seniors. Spectators will have a dedicated seating gallery, and the complex will also feature modern restrooms and water supply systems. An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed to move the project forward.
According to Sri Ganesh, the MLA of Secunderabad Cantonment, this is the largest amount ever approved for a single development project in the area’s history. He expressed confidence that the new sports complex will inspire and support many local athletes and sports enthusiasts.
The SCB meeting also addressed critical issues related to water supply and drainage maintenance. To meet the growing needs of the area, the State Government has already increased water supply from 5.9 million gallons per day (MGD) to 6.9 MGD. Authorities are ready to boost the supply further if required.
Plans are also in place to build pump houses, overhead water tanks, and a reservoir, provided suitable land is available. In addition, proposals include the construction of a multipurpose function hall and an integrated residential school, depending on land approval from the Board.
The government also aims to revive Ramannakunta Lake. The plan includes creating walking paths and adding recreational areas around the lake to make it a vibrant public space once again.
These developments mark a significant push toward enhancing the quality of life in the Secunderabad Cantonment and creating better facilities for residents.
