Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) reported a total revenue of Rs 6,970 crore between April and July 2025. This marks an increase compared to the same months in the previous year.
On Friday, SCR celebrated the 79th Independence Day at the Railway Sports Complex in Secunderabad. The event featured General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava raising the National Flag and receiving honors from the Railway Protection Force. He announced a record freight loading of 49 million tonnes, the highest ever for the first four months of a financial year in the zone. Freight revenue reached Rs 4,601 crore, while passenger services earned Rs 1,990 crore from transporting 96 million passengers.
The General Manager emphasized the zone’s commitment to safety, with no major accidents occurring this year. From April to July, 283 km of track were renewed. Speeds increased to 130 Kmph over 364 km, and 19 speed restrictions were eased or removed, making SCR a leader among zonal railways.
Infrastructure development is a priority for the zone, focusing on expanding projects like Kazipet-Vijayawada, Kazipet-Balharshah, and Vijayawada-Gudur. Many of these projects aim for completion by 2026.
