Nirmal: Panchayat Raj Minister D Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, launched the Women Shivangi Team on Saturday during a special event held in Nirmal district.
She praised the team and said that women should lead in every field. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the district Superintendent of Police (SP) for forming this all-women team and providing them with training to become commandos.
The Minister also applauded the team’s recent success in locating and rescuing four missing women from the Mamada forest area. She said their work was impressive and showed the importance of having women commandos.
Seethakka suggested that similar Shivangi teams should be created and trained in all districts of the state. She added that the training should be enjoyable, not difficult or stressful.
District SP Dr. G Janaki Sharmila explained that the selected women underwent 45 days of intense training, just like male commandos. She said that national forces like the Army, Navy, Marcos Commandos, and Greyhounds have set high standards, and now this women’s team is following in their footsteps.
The Minister noted that this is the first time women have been trained as commandos in the state, and she praised SP Sharmila for setting a new example. She expressed hope that more women commando teams will be formed across the state in the future.
