Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer Shikha Goel has taken charge as the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, Government of Telangana. She will continue to hold additional charges as Director of the Cyber Security Bureau and Director of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), further strengthening her role in the state’s internal security and governance framework.
Senior IPS Officer with Diverse Experience
Shikha Goel is a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Telangana cadre. Over the years, she has held several key positions in policing, investigations, cyber security, and administration.
She currently serves as Director General of Police (DGP), CID, Telangana, and has also led initiatives related to women’s safety, SHE Teams, and Bharosa centres. Her work has been instrumental in strengthening systems focused on crime investigation, cyber safety, and victim support.
Educational Background
Born on March 7, 1969, Shikha Goel completed her higher education at Delhi University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Botany from Miranda House, followed by a Master’s degree and M.Phil in Botany.
She has also completed an Advanced Management Programme in Public Policy from the Indian School of Business (ISB) and is an accredited civil and commercial mediator through ADR ODR International, England.
Career Journey
Shikha Goel began her IPS career in 1995 after training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. She initially served in Jammu & Kashmir Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police before moving to the Andhra Pradesh Police in 1999.
