In Hyderabad, Inspector General of Police AV Ranganath suspended Sub-Inspector Bhavani Sen for sexually assaulting a female head constable at Kaleshwaram police station. Bhavani was arrested on charges of raping the constable multiple times at gunpoint inside the old police station building near the Laxmi pump house.
The victim had been living in fear and even considered suicide due to the harassment by Bhavani. She finally lodged a complaint with the District Superintendent of Police, leading to an investigation and the subsequent arrest of the sub-inspector.
During the investigation, Bhavani confessed to the charges and revealed that he had also threatened and assaulted three other female police constables. The probe conducted by DSP Kaleshwaram resulted in Bhavani’s arrest late Tuesday night.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of female police officers within the force. The authorities are taking necessary steps to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
