Similipal Tiger Reserve: 21 Poachers Apprehended, 165 Firearms Confiscated

The police in Odisha have arrested 21 poachers and seized 165 firearms in a crackdown on illegal activities at Similipal Tiger Reserve. The goal of this operation is to eliminate poaching in the reserve. The Director General of Police, Sunil Kumar Bansal, announced this during a meeting with senior police and Forest department officials, as well as personnel from Similipal Tiger Reserve.

During the operation, a total of 165 illegal firearms were confiscated, including 158 SBML, 3 pistols, 2 small handguns, and 2 long barrel air guns. Additionally, Rs 2.95 lakh cash was seized. The government of Odisha is committed to making Simlipal one of the best ecosystems for tigers and ensuring their safety. Forest and police personnel will work together as a team to achieve this goal.
