Telangana is set to boost job opportunities for its youth with a new plan to open skill training centres in every district. D. Sridhar Babu, the state’s Minister for IT and Industries, shared this announcement on Tuesday.

These centres are part of a larger effort led by the upcoming Young India Skills University, which aims to make Telangana a top destination for skill development. The Minister said the goal is to connect what students learn in the classroom with what industries need, helping young people find better jobs.

Sridhar Babu visited the university’s permanent campus in Meerkhanpet, located in Kandukur Mandal of Ranga Reddy district, to check on its progress. He said the university will follow global standards and support students in building real-world skills.

The first phase of the campus will include academic buildings, labs, student hostels, and the Vice-Chancellor’s office. These facilities are expected to open on December 9.

He addressed criticism from opposition leaders, saying that while development takes time, the government is committed to its long-term goals. One of these goals is the creation of a new urban hub called Future City. This would be the fourth major city in Telangana, designed with a focus on innovation and sustainable growth. The government plans to launch the Future City Authority soon.

Dr. VLVSS Subba Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Young India Skills University, also attended the meeting. The project reflects the government’s broader push to combine industrial growth with youth empowerment.
