Ranga Reddy: Police arrested eight alleged hunters at Raikal toll plaza on Sunday while they were transporting about 13 kg of deer meat, officials said.
The Special Operations Team (SOT) intercepted the suspects and seized the meat, an air gun and two vehicles allegedly used to transport it.
After the arrests, police took the eight suspects to Kothur police station for questioning. The Forest Department was informed, and its officials and staff reached the station to gather details.
Police and forest officials are questioning the suspects to find out where the deer was hunted and how the meat was transported. Officials are also examining the air gun and the seized vehicles as part of the investigation.
Police said a case would be registered. The eight suspects will be produced before a court and are expected to be sent to judicial remand, police said.
