The Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department has issued a notification to grant licences for 41 new 2B bars across the state. The move follows changes to municipal limits and population growth, according to the department.
Of the proposed bars, 14 will be located in the core area. The remaining 27 are planned for other municipal corporations and municipalities.
Applications will be accepted from September 28 to October 12. Applicants must pay a fee of ₹1 lakh.

The department said the number of bar permissions was set in proportion to the rise in population following the formation of new municipalities and the merger of villages.
