In Vijayawada, four YSRCP MLAs switched to TDP after the 2023 MLC elections. They are in trouble with Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram and may face suspension.

The MLAs – Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Mekapati Chandra Sekhar Reddy, and Vundavalli Sridevi – have been asked to appear for an inquiry by the Speaker multiple times. They attended once but have been avoiding it since, claiming political bias. They believe the TDP MLAs who switched to YSRCP are not being treated the same way.

On February 19, 2024, the Speaker plans to hold a final inquiry. If the MLAs do not cooperate, he will decide on their suspension. The rebel MLAs are thinking about their legal options in response.
