Sports Department in Hyderabad Refuses Parade Allowance to NCC Cadets, Accused of Stinginess

The Telangana Sports and Youth Services department does not have money for the National Cadre Corps (NCC), which is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces. The NCC was established in 1948 with the goal of developing leadership qualities and patriotic values among young people. However, for several years, NCC cadets in schools and colleges in Telangana have been facing difficulties due to the lack of funding from the Sports and Youth Services department.

The department has been reluctant to provide funds even for basic expenses such as parade allowances. This has left NCC cadets in Telangana to cover these costs from their own pockets. Despite this, they are still expected to participate in various events, including state celebrations and festivals, and to serve during times of distress like floods.

In contrast, neighboring Maharashtra supports its NCC cadets by providing funding for their expenses, including flight tickets for the Republic Day parade. It is disappointing that Telangana does not prioritize adequate financial support for its NCC cadets.
