Hyderabad: The State’s IT and Industries Minister, D Sridhar Babu, has encouraged Italian companies to consider investing in Telangana‘s growing aerospace and defense sector. He described Telangana as one of the top locations in India for this industry.
At a meeting with Italian aerospace and defense representatives at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, the Minister emphasized the region’s strong investment environment. Telangana offers opportunities in component manufacturing, supply chain management, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO), avionics, radar and sensor systems, new-space technologies, small satellites, and advanced materials.
“Telangana has a solid industrial base with aerospace parks, SEZs, a comprehensive MSME network, advanced research facilities, excellent infrastructure, and skilled workers,” Sridhar Babu stated. He highlighted the TS-iPASS system, which provides approvals within 15 days, as a unique advantage.
Hyderabad is home to significant national and international companies like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, DRDO, Tata Advanced Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, GE Aviation, and Pratt & Whitney. Local startups such as Dhruva Space, Ananth Technologies, and Skyroot Aerospace are also gaining international attention.
The Minister pointed out that Italy‘s strengths in engine maintenance, avionics, radar, and sensor systems complement Telangana’s capabilities. Working together in these areas could fulfill India’s defense needs and boost exports.
