Sridhar encourages Taiwanese to invest in TG’s growing textile industry

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Industries and IT Minister, D Sridhar Babu, has invited Taiwanese business leaders to invest in the state’s growing textile industry. He urged them to join the “Rising Telangana” movement.

The Minister emphasized that Telangana offers more opportunities than other Indian states and is quickly becoming a strong force in textiles. On Friday, a group of 11 Taiwanese textile representatives, led by Justin Huang, President of the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), met with the Minister at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.

He highlighted Telangana’s progress in the textile sector, comparing it to other leading states. Industries’ Gross State Value Added (GSVA) for 2024-25 is projected at Rs 2.77 lakh crore, with textiles as a major contributor. He noted that Telangana produces high-quality cotton.

Sridhar Babu praised the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) as a major success story. Developed with government focus, KMTP features advanced infrastructure for all textile processes, from spinning to garmenting. Companies like Youngone, Kitex, and Ganesha Ecosphere have invested in the park. It is strategically located near the Hyderabad–Nagpur–Vijayawada Industrial Corridor and has excellent transport links. There are significant investment opportunities in areas like eco-friendly dyeing and textile recycling.

The Minister reassured the delegation of Telangana’s commitment to industrial growth through global cooperation. The state offers tailored land options, ready-to-use facilities, skilled workers, strong leadership, and geographical benefits. He noted that sectors like technical textiles, ESDM (Electronics System Design & Manufacturing), and sustainable manufacturing are ideal for partnerships with Taiwanese companies.

Minister Sridhar Babu suggested that if Taiwanese investors are interested, the government would consider creating a Telangana–Taiwan Manufacturing Zone and exclusive Textile Clusters. He confirmed Telangana’s willingness to collaborate with the Taiwan Textile Federation for the industry’s advancement.
