Karimnagar: Some SRSP officials are allegedly ignoring legal rulings and orders, aiding land grabbers in taking over valuable patta land. Burugupalli Venkateswar Rao and Sunil Rao, who feel wronged, shared their story with the media at the reservoir site.
They claimed that despite having legal titles, officials are turning a blind eye. Backed by influential leaders, these land grabbers target properties when the rightful owners are abroad. Venkateswar Rao bought 35 guntas of land in survey number 954/3, near the lower Manair reservoir dam. With the land’s value rising, attempts to seize it have increased.
“The Sriram Sagar Project officials are providing misleading reports for money. People affected by this face challenges. Buildings should not be constructed within 30 meters of the reservoir, a rule the officials themselves fail to enforce, worsening the situation,” Venkateswar Rao complained.
Though 11.23 acres near the reservoir were allocated to others, it was confirmed that 38 guntas belonged to Venkateswar Rao. He and others have reported the SRSP officials’ misconduct to senior authorities and the ACB for creating false reports and hindering construction on their land.
Recently, senior SRSP officials verified that the land in survey number 954/3 is indeed Venkateswar Rao’s and reported this to higher authorities. Despite this, justice remains elusive, prompting the victims to protest publicly.
