Hyderabad: State BJP leader N. Ramachandra Rao called on lawyers to rise and challenge policies that harm the people. Speaking at a BJP legal cell event on Saturday, he encouraged joint efforts to establish a BJP-led government in Telangana. Lawyers, he noted, are pivotal in social and political movements, capable of raising public awareness. Rao criticized the current Congress government for its unfavorable policies and urged its removal.
Rao shared his dedication to bringing the BJP to power in Telangana, highlighting his long-standing connections with the legal community. He recounted an incident from 1993 in United Andhra Pradesh, where he intervened against police actions in Tarnaka. This led to his arrest and a severe injury requiring a major operation and two months in the hospital.
During that time, lawyers in the state boycotted court proceedings for 43 days, despite his personal opposition to the boycott. This action, led by him and another senior lawyer, condemned police actions and resulted in the establishment of a Judicial Commission. He expressed deep gratitude to the legal community for their support, viewing them as family.
Rao emphasized the importance of BJP support for Telangana’s development, reminding attendees that the BJP played a crucial role in forming the state. He praised lawyers for their significant contributions to passing the Telangana Bill in Parliament without legal complications. Rao concluded that the BJP is essential for transforming Telangana into a prosperous state.
