Hyderabad: The state cabinet might make an important decision about local body elections on Monday. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy called a meeting to address the High Court’s deadline, which requires elections before September 30. They will also tackle the issue of implementing the BC quota in these elections.
The cabinet plans to approve holding elections with the existing 32% BC quota since the 42% BC quota bill is still awaiting approval from the Union Government.
On Sunday, the State Congress unit’s Political Affairs Committee will discuss the local elections ahead of the cabinet meeting.
Additionally, the cabinet will examine the High Court’s comments on the PC Ghose Commission report concerning the Kaleshwaram project. They will consider calling a special Assembly session to discuss the report in detail.
