Warangal:

The State Government is making serious efforts to revive the Mamnoor Airport in Warangal. To move forward with this project, the district administration is working on acquiring an additional 253 acres of land. This land will be added to the existing 706 acres already available for the airport.

Minister for Environment, Forest and Endowments, Konda Surekha, met with farmers from the villages of Gadepalli, Gunturpally, and Nakkalapally. She urged the farmers to give up their land for the airport project, explaining that it would benefit the people of Warangal in the long run.

Surekha assured the farmers that they would be compensated fairly, with the market price being paid for their land. Additionally, the government would provide alternative land in another location for those who are displaced. The new location would have necessary facilities such as roads, electricity, and drainage.

According to Minister Surekha, the revival of Mamnoor Airport will lead to significant industrial growth in the region. She mentioned the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, a fibre-to-fabric facility, as one of the key projects that will benefit from the improved air connectivity. She also highlighted that the airport would boost tourism, bringing more visitors to local attractions like Kakatiya Fort, Bhadrakali Temple, Ramappa Temple (a UNESCO Heritage Site), and scenic spots such as Laknavaram Lake and Bogatha Waterfalls.

Surekha also noted that the Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, is committed to developing Warangal into a well-rounded city. She credited the CM for playing a key role in getting approval from GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited for the revival of Mamnoor Airport, as their consent was required due to the airport’s proximity (within 150 km) to Shamshabad.

The Minister thanked the farmers for their willingness to support the project and directed officials to prepare a detailed report for the government so the next steps in the process could begin.

Wardhannapet MLA K R Nagaraju added that once the airport, along with inner and outer ring roads and underground drainage systems, are completed, Warangal will undergo a significant transformation. Other notable figures present during the discussions included Greater Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudharani, MP K Kavya, Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy, and Warangal district collector Satya Sarada.
