    The State Government of Hyderabad is preparing for the inauguration of the country’s tallest statue, a 125-foot-tall bronze statue of Dr B R Ambedkar. The inauguration will involve the use of choppers to shower flowers and huge cranes to decorate the statue with garlands made of roses and marigold. Cranes will also be used to remove the cloth covering the statue during the inauguration.

    As Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, people in Hyderabad have begun their shopping for clothing. Cloth merchants report that business is picking up, with many shoppers purchasing cloth to get clothes stitched later on, while others buy ready-made garments. The lack of disturbances so far has contributed to the increased business.

    The Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge in Hyderabad will be closed for three days from April 6 midnight to April 10 as the GHMC carries out inspection works of the stay cable system as per the maintenance manual of the bridge.

    The Hyderabad traffic police have announced traffic restrictions in view of the ‘Sri Hanuman Jayanthi Vijaya Yatra’ in the city. The main procession will begin from Gowliguda Ram Mandir and culminate at Hanuman Mandir Tadbund in Secunderabad.

    Jains all over the country observed ‘Mahavir Jayanti’, the most auspicious day of their religion, on Tuesday. Several rallies were taken out and Jain communities were seen thronging temples to worship Lord Mahavir, the 24th and the last Tirthankara. Children and elders were enlightened over the articulations by renowned preceptors to preach the path of morality and righteousness on the life of Lord Mahavir. In the name of Mahavira, folks visit innumerable holy places and others travel to temples to meditate and offer prayers to Mahavir.
