“Priyanka Ji… Where is My Scooter?”

Students from three colleges in Jogulamba Gadwal district—Priyadarshini Women’s Degree College, MALD Government Degree College, and SVM Degree College—are protesting to demand free electric scooters. They are sending postcards as part of their protest, urging AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi to fulfill her election promise.

During the Telangana Assembly elections on May 23, 2023, Priyanka Gandhi spoke at a public meeting in Saroor Nagar Stadium. She announced the Youth Declaration, which included promises of free electric scooters for girls aged 18 and above and financial aid of ₹2,500 per month for women.

Now, 14 months after the Congress party came to power, students say there has been no progress on the free scooter scheme. They feel disappointed, as their families voted for Congress with high hopes, but the promise remains unfulfilled.

The students have vowed to continue their Postcard Protest until the government takes action. They plan to increase their agitation to pressure the Congress government into keeping its promise and providing the free scooters as promised.
