To ensure the safety of children in school buses, the Women and Children Safety Wing (W&CSW) of Cyberabad police conducted surprise checks on school buses and drivers in several international schools. The W&CSW worked together with the Traffic department and also conducted mock drills for school drivers.
During the inspections, the teams checked for fitness certificates, the experience of school bus drivers, and whether the buses had “On School Duty” labels on the front and rear sides. They also checked for contact numbers on the buses and whether the windows had horizontal grills.
In addition to these checks, the teams also inspected the availability of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and cameras inside the buses. They verified the drivers and conductor’s background and identity cards, as well as their valid driving license. The teams also looked for any challans against the bus drivers, as those with more than two challans are not eligible to drive school buses.
